About

Dr. Jennifer (Jen) Ginestra’s research focuses on improving the quality and timeliness of care for patients who develop sepsis and respiratory failure in the hospital. She uses machine learning and causal inference methodology to leverage granular inpatient electronic health record data with the goal of advancing precision approaches to care.

Dr. Ginestra received a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Plan II Honors at The University of Texas at Austin. She then received her medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. She completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care fellowship training at Penn. During fellowship she received support from the PAIR Center to obtain a Master of Science in Health Policy Research and additional QI training as a CHIPS Fellow in the Center for Healthcare Improvement & Patient Safety. While at Penn, she was an active member of the Penn Medicine Sepsis Alliance, a multidisciplinary task force dedicated to the optimization and standardization of sepsis care across the healthcare system.

She is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Dr. Ginestra lives in Denver where she enjoys gardening, cooking, hiking, and rock climbing.
