Augusta Alwang

Dr. Augusta Alwang is a fellow in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a graduate student in the Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MSCE) program at the Perelman School of Medicine. Her research interests include clinical epidemiology, comparative effectiveness, and outcomes in critically ill patients. Her current research focuses on the epidemiology and outcomes of chronic critical illness, with an emphasis on understanding the factors that shape its development, progression, and long-term consequences.

During her residency, Dr. Alwang conducted a comparative effectiveness study using target trial emulation methods, examining intravenous fluid therapy in patients hospitalized with sickle cell vaso-occlusive episodes, which was published in JAMA Internal Medicine.

Dr. Alwang earned her undergraduate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Lehigh University and her medical degree from Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Boston Medical Center.
