In an Author Interview for JAMA, PAIR Center Director Dr. Scott Halpern and Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellow Dr. Emily Moin discuss their study on the epidemiology of critical care in the US before and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following pandemic-era changes, many ICU outcomes–such as length of stay and adjusted in-hospital mortality–returned to prior levels. The rates of mechanical ventilation have declined even further, while vasopressor use remained significantly elevated.
