About

Eric Underwood is a Clinical Research Coordinator working on FOCUS, a longitudinal study investigating how financial toxicity affects critical illness treatment outcomes, and Senita, a study designing supports for students ages 12-18 who take care of adult family members at home with long-term or critical illnesses.

Before joining PAIR, Eric taught science in Seattle at an alternative public high school serving high-needs students. He piloted phenomena-centered, project-based curricula in his 9th and 10th grade Physics and Chemistry classes and served as an academic advisor and Gender & Sexuality Alliance club mentor. Before his Master’s in Education at the University of Washington, Eric graduated from Whitman College with a BA in Physics-Astronomy where he did research on the size and shape of near-Earth asteroids, globular cluster isochrones, astrophotography, and solar panel placement optimization.

Eric enjoys playing music, attending concerts, rock climbing, reading, hiking, video games, and eating lots of good food.
