Chelsea K. Brown is a doctoral candidate at the School of Social Policy & Practice at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on improving care delivery for for individuals and families navigating serious illness and end-of-life care. She is particularly interested in how clinicians recognize and respond to patient experiences of traumatic stress and structural violence across the lifespan. Chelsea aims to leverage mixed methods research to design and test trauma-informed interventions that reduce medical harm and improve the responsiveness of acute healthcare settings, especially during serious illness and end-of-life care.
Chelsea holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan. She is a previous research fellow with the Zelda Foster Studies Program in Palliative and End-of-Life Care at New York University. Prior to joining SP2, Chelsea was most recently working at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) as an inpatient social worker within the Division of Palliative Medicine.
