Preferences for Predictive Information About Future Health States Among Patients with Life-limiting Illness

Overview

The proposed project will use a discrete choice experiment (DCE) to study preferences for characteristics of predictive models among patients with lung disease in outpatient clincs within the University of Pennsylvania Health System. This pilot has two specific aims, (1) identify relevant time horizons and health states for predictive models among community-dwelling patients with life-limiting illness to support advance care planning (ACP) discussions; and (2) characterize patient preferences for tradeoffs between costs of false positive and false negative errors when using predictive models to support ACP discussions.
