About

Lydia Federico, MD, is an Internal Medicine resident at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a first-generation college graduate. She is interested in research that explores critical illness survivorship, methodological bias, and health equity.

Originally from Boston, Dr. Federico completed her undergraduate degree in Social Studies and Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Harvard College. She became interested in trauma-focused approaches to medical care when she worked after college in a military post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) clinic. She then completed an MPhil degree at University of Cambridge, where she conducted historical research on the role of the U.S. military’s funding for and shaping of medical understanding of civilian and health-related trauma. She completed medical school at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Following residency, she hopes to pursue fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
